With summer approaching it’s time to retire those over-sized sweaters, scarves and cozy knits and move all those fall and spring essentials to the back of your closet. Put away that go to beanie, that leather jacket and those over utilized combat boots, unless weather condition apply otherwise soak up the sun. If you’re having a hard time repeat after me, summer is all about showing the right amount of skin and finding colors that compliment your skin.

Ladies summer essentials are a must, let me tell you all the necessities you’ll need to get through the summer, not only to be weather ready, but fashionably ready. If you don’t already have a pair of go to sandals they’re a must. Show off those pedicured toes. Don’t settle for any old pair either. Gladiator Sandals are a good pair to add to your shoe collection. Don’t take my word for it, Glamour magazine has it on their list of 2015 essentials and suggests you have a pair on hand for summer. Make sure they’re comfortable and have some form of support because these bad boys have to go with you to the beach, those hikes up the strand and those long walk through the park.

Long maxi dresses that show off your curves and frame are made for the summer. Just the right amount of material for those hot summer days and perfect for showing off some shoulder and maybe even a little exposed back action. Head over to H&M, Forever 21 or Macy’s because these definitely need to be in your closet.

Crop tops and muscle tees are summers best friend. Guaranteed you’ll be living in one if not both these shirt options this summer. Elle magazine agrees naming crop tops one of five trends you should try this summer. Don’t even pretend like you didn’t work out in efforts to show off those abs you skipped that cheeseburger for or that random healthy binge diet you started last week solely to look stunning in that bikini. Guilty, but you’re definitely not alone. Run your fingers through the racks of Urban Outfitters, American Eagle or Plant Blue to add these gems to your collection.

Every female should have a few if not one pair of high waisted shorts stored in their closet ready to bust out for those hot summer days and nights. High waisted shorts are the perfect opportunity to show off those legs and actually have a reason to. Looking for a distressed or one of a kind pair? EBay has you covered, but for you impatient folk or for you must try on sticklers Urban Outfitters and Brandy Melville is at your service.

A pair of stylish sunnies are a summer staple. Eyewear and sunny days go hand and hand when fighting off those beaming rays, ladies, fellas, we all need that one pair and that back up pair close by and in reach. Bucket hats, sun hats, fedoras and even flower crowns are great for the summer.

Ladies, lastly a pair of distressed, go to boyfriend jeans, which I recommend every female own if you don’t already. If you’re look for a lovely pair Zara, J Crew and Urban Outfitters have some of one of a kind must haves. Boyfriend jeans are perfect for dressing up for a night out of town and for dressing down for a movie night in with the squad. Let these jeans find their way into the front of your closet, you won’t regret it.

Fellas, I didn’t forget about you, just like the ladies a pair of go to sandals are a must for the summer especially for you beach loving, outdoor junkies. If you’ve had your toes covered up, up until this season it’s time to show them off and let those toes breathe.

Lightweight T-shirts and jerseys are major for you guys during this hot season. The great thing about T-shirts and jerseys is if worn right they could be both dressed up and dressed down depending on your preference and the occasion.

If you don’t have a pair of cargo shorts, you’re not ready for summer or to show off those muscular legs. Perfect for the beach, BBQs and outdoor adventures, cargo pants come in all the right colors. Need a pair of these summer essentials in your closet? Macy’s, Pac Sun and Urban Outfitters is where you’ll find them.

Lastly, button ups, which are also great for dressing up and down, are not just a summer, but a seasonal must have. The fun thing about summer is you could go for the floral, colorful and daring prints that perfectly work during this fashion fun season, so live a little and go for that unique print waiting to be grabbed and snatched up off the racks. Like Fashionbeans.com says floral prints have increased in visibility and I agree.

If you haven’t already made your checklist of things to buy for your next trip to the mall I suggest you start now, summer is around the corner and it’s time to show off some skin, not all, but some.
